Dr. Tom Fisher

A proud United States Air Force “Brat,” Dr. Fisher spent the majority of his early years in and around London, England, attending 10 schools in 12 years.  Upon his father’s retirement from the Service, his family moved to Tallahassee, Florida.  While variously working in radio, theatre management, and as an EMT/Paramedic, he attended Florida State University and played Soccer for FSU for two years.  After moving to Orlando, he graduated from Florida Technological University/University of Central Florida (UCF) with a Bachelors’ Degree in Psychology in 1981.  Dr. Fisher then served in the United States Navy as a Naval Aviator and qualified as both a fixed wing & multi-engine, rotary wing (helicopter) Command pilot.  In 1986, he entered Private Practice in Psychology with his father and specialized in psychometry, psychometrics, biofeedback, and behavioral therapies.   
 

     Dr. Fisher completed his first Masters’ Degree in Counseling Psychology & Human Development at Rollins College and become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). His Private Practice expanded through consultation appointments working with Physiatrists, Chiropractors, Neurologists, Orthopedists, Psychiatrists, and Physical Therapists.  Dr. Fisher earned his second Masters’ Degree in 1993 from UCF in Exercise Physiology and began to re-orient his practice to athletic performance enhancement, motivation, sport psychology, and Mental/Emotional Skills Training.   Dr. Fisher earned his Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction in Exercise Physiology from UCF in 2003.   

     He is currently a Senior Lecturer for the Graduate and Undergraduate Exercise Physiology Tracks for the School of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy in the College of Health Professions and Sciences at the University of Central Florida.  Dr. Fisher is also a human performance consultant and lecturer to individuals and teams in the UCF Athletics Department.  Since 1986, Dr. Fisher has been the Clinical Director of his Private Practice: MonuMental Performance. This is a Human Performance Enhancement Private Practice that includes physical/mental/emotional training programs, motivation and sport psychology for athletes from amateur to professional, and even Olympians.  In 2016, Dr. Fisher took the helm as the Editor-in-Chief of Muscle Media Magazine, a well-established, international, online fitness and bodybuilding publication.  

     Dr. Fisher has been involved with over a dozen Martial Arts for over 60 years and holds numerous belt-ranks including Certified Senior Black Belt Instructor, Examiner, and Referee.  He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  In his spare time, Dr. Fisher enjoys his work as a Wine Educator and Certified Sommelier with his wife, Anne.  He is also a NAUI, PADI, NASDS, and YMCA Certified SCUBA Dive Master, Rescue/Recovery Diver, Wreck Diver, Cave/Cavern Diver, a Lecturer/Consultant on exotic dive gas mixtures (NITROX/HELOX), and SCUBA Physiology.  He is one of the founding members of the Disney Aquatic Recovery Team (DART), a search and recovery SCUBA dive team at Disneyworld in Orlando.
