Don’t Let Muscle Soreness Stop You

This is for the gym junkies AND those of you that are just getting started. Some of you may know the effects of going hard at the gym. While it may feel great at the moment, muscle soreness can really be a pain a day or two after your workout. Depending on the type of workout and the type of person, muscle soreness can range from barely noticeable to extremely painful.

Let’s talk about why our muscles get sore in the first place. While a lot of you may think that your muscles get sore because of the workout doing its job, that isn’t really the case. Usually muscle soreness is a sign that you caused damage to your muscles. Then, when this damage occurs, your body begins a repair process by triggering inflammation. This is the sore feeling you experience. You may also notice that muscle soreness isn’t for everyone. Usually it occurs when you do a workout that’s new to you, more intense, or involves a lot of movements. Your body isn’t used to all this and sometimes the muscle will damage in the process.

Research from the National Kidney Foundation says that having a bit of muscle soreness isn’t much of a bad thing but it shouldn’t last longer than 72 hours, or at least to the point where it’s hindering you from going about your daily life. It’s said that there is a way to help your muscles recover from the damage of working out. This way they’ll be bigger and stronger, not a burden.

One thing that you can do is to make sure that you hydrate. While going through a grueling workout, there are a lot of us that may forget to hydrate our body. The water you ingest will keep the fluids in your body moving which can ease the inflammation that the workout can cause. It can also keep you from getting dehydrated. When it comes to dehydration it’s important you pay attention. A lot of the time you’ll become dehydrated before you even feel like you’re thirsty. That’s why it’s important to pay attention to your body.

Now to bring up everyone’s favorite part of the day! Eating! This is super important after an intense workout because it’s going to be what your muscles need to repair. This will even speed up the recovery process a bit. While it’s important to eat after a workout, you can’t stop there. It won’t make sense to indulge in a post workout snack then stop eating or the rest of the day. Your body is going to need to feed the amino acids throughout the day so make sure you EAT!

Another option you could try is our one and only, Muscle Shot. It’s a vitamin shot filled with amino acids that will build your muscle while promoting recovery. It will also help you cut down and get that dream body you’ve been wanting. Just call us at The IV Lounge to get more information.
